CHAPTER 11

The Departure Of Truth From The Land

After the election of President Bill Clinton I was astounded beyond belief. I could not imagine how this country could have elected a man who stood for such evil. Mr. Clinton ran on a platform of abortion and homosexuality, plus the other usual mandate that all politicians use: promises of a utopia that their opponents never delivered during their tenure in the White House.

I warned the people before the election that if, in fact, they voted for Bill Clinton, that the blood of every aborted child would be upon their hands. I also told them that the day that they stood before the Lord that they would give account for this abomination. I told them that God would not tolerate such insubordination. I spoke of the judgments of the Lord that would come down over and over again through pestilence, weather, wind, fire, and earthquakes. This was, as usual, all dismissed as some fanatic trying to scare the people.

I was so distraught because of the election that I began to fast and pray for answers that would give me understanding to the situation. After several days of seeking the Lord I heard the voice of God say that the reason that the people calling themselves Christians voted for Bill Clinton was because truth had left the land. The Lord said that people could not know truth, if there was no truth to draw from. He went on to say that if truth is gone, then all that is left to draw from will be lies.

I Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV)

1 NOW the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Paul was speaking of the times just prior to the return of Christ. The times that we are now in will fit perfectly to this set of scriptures. Paul said that in the last days there would be those saints who would depart from the faith that he and those like him had delivered to the saints. He said seducing spirits and doctrines of devils would prevail in the church. Paul also said that their conscience would be of such that they would believe lies as easily as believing the truth.

II Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV)

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Paul was trying to prepare us for the times in which we are now living. Even though he was talking to Timothy in relationship to the church then, he was also speaking far into the future. Most scripture parallels itself not only to the times of that period, but also to future events.

John 8:31-32 (KJV)

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I believe that herein lies the answer: we must continue in His Word and that Word, and only that Word, will set you free. We will know truth if we stay open to God's Word and not the doctrines of men and churches.

Isaiah 59:1-15 (KJV)

1 BEHOLD, the Lords hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch cockatrice eggs, and weave the spiders web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.

11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

13 In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

In verse 8 we find that the way of peace is not known. Israel had fallen so deeply into sin that they could not find their way back out of sin. That could be very well what this nation has done; sin has become a way of life for this nation. In verses 14 and 15 we can see that truth has fallen in the streets. Those who depart from evil have become prey to those who work evil. This is all because truth has failed to prevail in the lives of the people.

Today, those who stand up for truth in America are more than often scorned. We are told that what we are believing is old fashioned and will not work in a modern world as ours. I have heard of television talk shows where people stood up for truth. In all of these situations that I have been told of, the entire audience began to heckle them and jeer them. This was only because they dared to speak against the sin that was being portrayed on the show. Isaiah was certainly speaking not only to Israel of that day, but also to the generation of today.

Deuteronomy 32:1-42 (KJV)

1 GIVE ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

3 Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

6 Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

8 When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

9 For the Lords portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

12 So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

14 Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

19 And when the Lord saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.

20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the Lord hath not done all this.

28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end

30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?

31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

35 To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

36 For the Lord shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.

I realize that some of the scriptures I am using get rather long. However, it is important to understand from a scriptural standpoint how God deals with this type of situation.

In the first part of these scriptures the Lord is trying to reason with Israel. Then later on we see the Lord tells them that they have forgotten the God who formed them. It seems that America has also forgotten the God who has formed us. In verse 28 we hear that “they are a nation that is void of counsel” and that there is no understanding in them. Again, this sounds just exactly like this nation. Verse 31 says that their rock is not our Rock. There are many, many churches in America, and I agree that in many of them it is very hard to believe that we are all serving the same God. In verse 35 we find that Israel will have their day of calamity in due time. Sin always has a price to pay for it and the sins of this nation are very great. The day will come when this nation will have to call upon the Rock in whom they have trusted. God is a consistent God and you can believe that if Israel or any other nation, turns their backs upon the Lord, they will be visited with judgment.

Joshua 24:14-24 (KJV)

14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;

17 For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

18 And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God.

19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

20 If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the Lord.

22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the Lord, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel.

24 And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

Joshua was giving the people a choice, whether to serve the living God or some other god. In verse 20 Joshua warns them that if they forsake the Lord to serve strange gods, then the Lord will turn on them. Joshua said that the Lord would hurt them and consume them after He had done them good. Many in today's church refuse to believe that we serve a God who could be this way. Most believe that this was only for the Old Testament people. If that be truth, then we will be able to sin all we want and the Lord would not do anything about it. That sounds like a fairy tale to me. It is high time for the church to wake up and understand that the Lord means business in this day and hour as He always has.

Psalms 91:4 (KJV)

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

The understanding of truth is the key to having Him as our shield and buckler.

Proverbs 3:1-10 (KJV)

1 MY son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

In verse 3 we find once again that truth along with mercy is what we need to desperately seek after. Within these scriptures is the knowledge to sustain us throughout our life. We must not lean toward the understanding of modern times that says we need not to serve a God whom we cannot see. We must trust in Him, because He is the same today as He was then and so shall He always be.

In Proverbs 23:23 we are told to buy the truth and to sell it not. We must never sell out to the New Age movement, no matter what we are told.

Isaiah 26:1-4 (KJV)

1 IN that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Jeremiah 7:23-28 (KJV)

23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day, I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.

27 Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

28 But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

Verse 28 has some very important implications, it says they had not obeyed the voice of the Lord nor had received the correction that was brought to them. Then we read that truth is perished, and cut off from their mouth. This is the situation we have in America. Truth has been cut off, because we would not receive correction from the Lord.

Hosea 4:1-3 (KJV)

1 HEAR the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

It sounds as though there are some tough times that lie ahead for America, because this is again an exact description of our nation. The knowledge of the Word of God in our land is no doubt at an all time rock-bottom. Few churches can agree on hardly any of God's scriptures and all believe that they are the only true light in their communities.

Malachi 2:1-7 (KJV)

1 AND now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.

2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.

5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

7 For the priests lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

Sad to say, but this is the way of most ministry today. No one wants to admit that we have some grave problems throughout the ministry. Many ministers have lost the vision of ministry, while others never had it. There will, no doubt, be major changes coming to ministry in the near future. The law of truth must be in our mouths as we deliver the words of our Lord.

God does not lift truth from a people because they make a mistake. The Lord will try over and over again to reach a people through the mouths of His ministers. There is however, a time when the Lord says that enough is enough. When this happens you can be assured that the Lord has done all that can be done to get the people to repent and come out of their sin. The Lord has called America to repentance for many years, but America has rejected God. We have decided that we will guide our destiny. The fall of America will be great, because to whom has been given much, much is required.
